Starting Your Cutting Garden, Saturday, April 7, 2018 9-1pm

Have you always wanted to grow your own beautiful, bountiful blooms but didn’t quite know how to start?  Or perhaps you’ve had problems germinating your seeds?  Does your spring garden inevitably morph from a well-tended plot to an over grown weed patch by mid-July?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, then is the class for you!  This half-day hands-on class is for gardeners, florists, and flower enthusiasts who are interested in starting your very own cutting garden.  Instruction will include our techniques for planning for blooms all summer long and includes seed selection, hands-on seed starting, planting out, harvest and post-harvest handling.

Mimo Davis has been growing cut flowers for pleasure and profit for over 25 years and holds a Master’s Degree in Horticulture form North Carolina A&T University, and recently served at the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers Midwest Regional Director.  Miranda Duschack is an agricultural Cooperative Extension Educator with a focus on urban farming.   She holds a degree in Sustainable Agriculture from The Evergreen State College, is Permaculture Design Certified, and a beekeeper of 10+ years.

Class with be held on Urban Buds farm proper, 4728 Tennessee Ave, St. Louis MO 63111. Attendees will leave with their own seedlings and will have an opportunity to purchase unusual seedlings from the Urban Buds collection. Please note this is an intensive workshop with hands on experience and a light breakfast will be served! Limit 12 attendees.
